Amazon Review
This third album, released in July 1964, served as the soundtrack for the Beatles' first starring film of the same name. It is also the only album to feature entirely Lennon-McCartney originals.
John Lennon's signature style is particularly evident, as this was a period when his creative talent was reaching its peak. However, "5" is an important track, as it marks the final moment when the unparalleled melody maker Paul McCartney finally demonstrated his potential. We must also not forget the influence that the 12-string guitar played by George McCartney on this album and in the film had on subsequent folk rock. (Yoshio Hoshino)
