A slotless motor ensures smooth and quiet running. Snap-on bogies are used.
Both the lead and intermediate cars are equipped with body-mounted close-coupling couplers (without hooks) for new-performance electric trains.
Separate body supports can also be attached as desired.
Leading cars No. 1, 9, and 12 have headlights/taillights and front display lights (with switch to turn them off).
All leading cars except car No. 1 (KuHa 455-60) and car No. 12 (KuMoHa 475-16) come with front lights already installed.
A front light can be installed on KuHa 455-60 as desired. The front display is printed with "Express".
Selectable headmarks are included.
