1. Book introduction
In this revised edition, the example sentences have been revised to make them easier for foreigners to understand, and the Korean pronunciation of the headings and example sentences in the text can be downloaded as MP3. Additionally, an alphabetical order has been added to make it easier to find the desired table of contents.
Unlike their counterparts in English-speaking and non-Chinese-character-speaking countries, learners in English-speaking and non-Chinese-character-speaking countries have difficulty learning Chinese characters due to a lack of basic knowledge or understanding of Chinese characters. Accordingly, this book was created to help learners in non-Chinese characters quickly and efficiently learn more than 2,000 Chinese characters, focusing on 50 Chinese characters with high compositional power.
To help you understand the basics of Chinese characters, this book presents the meanings and pictures of Chinese characters and allows you to practice writing according to the stroke order. In addition, a table of Chinese characters was presented so that the Chinese characters could be viewed at a glance, focusing on high-frequency Chinese characters.
For each Chinese character, example sentences and translations along with synonyms and antonyms are included. The example sentences use vocabulary and grammar appropriate for the level of intermediate learners, and are given importance and topic ratings from the National Institute of the Korean Language's Basic Dictionary of Korean to help teaching and learning.
Review Quiz practice questions allowed students to check their learning content, and an additional vocabulary list was provided to help learners expand their Chinese character vocabulary. In addition, the appendix also includes a list of high-frequency affixes with similar meanings and major homonyms.
