This is a 1/75 scale wooden sailing ship model of the "Kanrin Maru (without sails)" from WoodyJOE.
This motor-sail ship, ordered from the Netherlands by the Tokugawa shogunate, was a screw-propelled steam-engine steamship with a wooden hull.
In 1860, it carried a Japan-US Commerce Treaty Exchange Mission to San Francisco.
Along with Captain Katsu Kaishu, John Manjiro and Fukuzawa Yukichi also boarded the ship.
This kit is primarily composed of high-precision laser-machined wooden parts, and also uses metal etching and soft metal parts. It is a precision model of the ship in its motorized state with the sails removed.
The keel frame, which forms the base of the hull, uses a box structure with a stable framework.
This is a wooden model that requires assembly.
Separate adhesives, tools, paints, etc. are required for assembly and painting.
