Studio Ghibli's first fully 3D CG film, "Earwig and the Witch" (planned by Hayao Miyazaki, directed by Goro Miyazaki), hits theaters nationwide on Thursday, April 29th (national holiday)!
Director Hayao Miyazaki describes "Howl's Moving Castle" as "a special work."
Hayao Miyazaki was so impressed by the children's novel "Earwig and the Witch" by British author Diana Wynne Jones, which is the original source material for the film, that he decided to turn it into a feature-length animated film, which was then directed by his son, Goro Miyazaki.
The story begins when a young girl named Earwig, who grows up unaware that she is the daughter of a witch, is taken in by a strange family one day and ends up living with a wicked witch.
This is the storyboard for Studio Ghibli's first fully 3D CG feature film.
Storyboards, which can be thought of as blueprints for animation,
include character movements and psychology, lines, sound effects,
and instructions to the staff.
You can see the director's intentions, which are incorporated into every detail,
and enjoy them as beautiful, dynamic illustrated stories.
