High-quality, yet palm-sized. The 3.5-ton truck is the JGSDF's dependable "foot"—a set of both old and new models, each with a uniquely deformed design!
[Type 1.73 Heavy-Duty Truck (Old Model)]
Commonly known as the "3.5-ton" truck, this is the JGSDF's most popular transport vehicle.
Having undergone numerous model changes, it remains in active service for over 40 years.
The older model features a distinctive rugged front, giving it a rugged appearance that is quite different from civilian trucks.
All models are manufactured by Isuzu Motors.
[Type 2.73 Heavy-Duty Truck (Current Model)]
Produced since 1999, this model's exterior has undergone significant changes due to a redesigned cabin.
The base design is also shared with civilian trucks, and an automatic transmission (AT) version is also available.
The latest model is equipped with an in-line six-cylinder diesel engine, which increases output by 45 horsepower and top speed by 20 km/h to 105 km/h compared to the earliest model.
