Kiso geta have ancient origins, dating back approximately 300 years. They received a certificate from the shogunate certifying that they were made from precious Kiso wood, and were transported on horseback to faraway places like Edo and Owari, where they gained popularity. After the Meiji Restoration, production was temporarily halted, but at the beginning of the Showa era, the beautiful grain and color unique to Kiso's nezuko wood, as well as their light weight and water resistance, were rediscovered, and today they are loved by many for their comfortable fit. Their smooth feel and simple design are world-class. Our artisans handcraft each geta, adhering to traditional manufacturing methods. They may stain if exposed to rain, but this does not affect their comfort. They are also resistant to rot. The size is close to one size fits all, so you can wear them snugly, or you can wear them with your heels sticking out about 1cm for a stylish and chic look. They make a wonderful gift. Enjoy the comfort of Kiso nezuko geta.
