This rice bin was made by Mr. Takemoto, a joiner and box maker, from paulownia wood without using nails or plastic. Made of paulownia, which has excellent moisture control and insect repellency properties, it allows you to store rice in a delicious state. The rice comes out one cup at a time, so there is no need to measure it, which is very convenient.
Paulownia has the ability to maintain humidity around 60% regardless of the season, which prevents rice from deteriorating. Paulownia is also an excellent insect repellent, and has been used to protect valuable items such as kimono chests of drawers from insects.
When you pull the knob toward you, rice will accumulate one cup at a time in the drawer. The inside of the rice bin is sloped so that you can get every last grain of rice out. The drawer where the rice accumulates has a space of about 5mm left and right on both sides, and careful attention has been made to prevent the rice from getting caught.
Capacity: For 30kg. External dimensions (approx.): Width 23 x depth 43 x height 81 cm, weight (approx.): 4 kg. Manufactured in: Japan (Toyama Prefecture)
