He may be billed as "another Toshinobu Kubota," but the first thing you hear is his funky voice. From there, his vitality and sense of groove, embraced by a reggae-based sound, begin to stimulate your hips and your brain.

Although he debuted in 1986, Toshinobu Kubota had actually written songs for artists such as Kyoko Koizumi and Toshihiko Tahara before that. The "JAH" in the title of this album, "KUBOJAH," stands for Jehovah. With the theme of "power of love," this album marks a turning point for Kubota.
Musically, the reggae sound throughout is intriguing. This is a powerful work that embodies his obsession with portraying Jamaica from an outsider's perspective, rather than Jamaican reggae. (Michihiro Oishi)
