The next-generation energy-efficient 209-series commuter train, a representative train of the 1990s that ran in the Tokyo suburbs, has been made into a plastic model kit as part of the "Plakit-Extra" series. "Plakit-Extra" is a series based on the concept of "simplified painting, no assembly required, and easy power installation" to make it more user-friendly, while retaining the power and quality of the 1/80 scale model.
The "line color" coloring, one of the features of stainless steel cars, is achieved by using separate parts for the colored parts, so you can get the look you want without painting. The sashes of the SaHa 209 windows, which were modified to open and close, are reproduced using two-color molded parts. The underfloor equipment unique to trailer cars is neatly arranged, and the through doors are omitted like the actual car, and the parts are easy to assemble.
The Saha 208 has six doors on each side, which is characteristic of the specifications required for the intensifying rush-hour commute in the metropolitan area, and the window between the doors has been recreated to show the difference between fixed and openable windows. The Saha 208's air conditioner is a completely new mold, the AU722A. The bogie has wavy wheels that look great when on display, and if you use the running parts made by Tenshodo, it can also be made to run on 16 gauge (HO gauge).
