Two file shapes: Choose from a classic pointed tip or a rounded tip. Available in two colors: matte silver and matte black. Rust-resistant, washable stainless steel material: Hygienic and suitable for long-term use. We pride ourselves on our three-stage sharpening process, a testament to our skilled craftsmanship. Nail files are made from thin stainless steel plates, approximately 1 mm thick. Each nail file's blade is sharpened by hammering a steel blade called a "chigae" (sharpening). This sharpening process is called "sharpening." At Yoshida File Factory, each nail file is hand-sharpened using a sharpening machine. Craftsmen sharpen the chisel, adjust the sharpening machine's strength, and hammer the file blades evenly into the stainless steel plate. Sharpening is performed three times (diagonally left and right, and horizontally) on the stainless steel plate (three-stage sharpening), a total of six times on both sides. The chisel wears down with each sharpening, so it must be re-sharpened and adjusted each time. If the chisel is not sharpened horizontally or the strength of the sharpening machine is off, the resulting file will not be even. Craftsmen rely on their eyes, ears, the vibration of the sharpening machine, and the feel of the file's edges to sharpen each nail. The intersection of these three layers creates a point that firmly catches the fine fibers of the nail. The nail does not escape but follows the surface of the file, allowing the nail to be filed smoothly without putting strain on it. The file grooves, which are evenly spaced and of the same depth, are the work of a skilled craftsman. This is the pinnacle of craftsmanship. It looks beautiful and is extremely comfortable to use. The file comes in two shapes. The pointed type is a classic shape passed down at Yoshida File Factory, and the tip is suitable for treating mild ingrown nails and trimming cuticles. The rounded type has a rounded tip so that it can be used safely by children and the elderly. It is available in two colors: matte silver and matte black. The black color is achieved using a technique called oxidation coloring, which brings out the color in the stainless steel material itself. Stainless steel is also rust-resistant and can be washed with water, making it hygienic to use.
