To me, self-portraits are a "threatening combination of cuteness and strength."
Confronting my own appearance and soul can sometimes be heartbreaking and crushing.
Still, we have countless futures ahead of us, and I hope that girls can become stronger.

Confronting herself and continuing to seek something through photography—
This long-awaited photobook brings together the trajectory of photographer Tama Kanako, who has primarily produced self-portraits!

The first section of this book features a collection of "mimicry" works of young girls, exuding a carefree atmosphere.
However, in the second section, Tama Kanako's fantasy begins to deviate in a strange direction.
The girl's attempt to commit suicide by decapitating herself with a shovel perfectly captures the urgency of her desire to transform.
And then, in the third section, she is reborn as a matagi hunter.
By merging with a bear, she is reborn as a "strong and noble" creature.

Through self-portraits, I learned that the pure, beautiful feelings that quietly shine deep within us give us value as we are born into this universe.
