The lens features a generous 16 elements in 13 groups, including three FLD glass elements, two SLD glass elements, and two molded glass aspherical lenses. This minimizes various aberrations and delivers high resolution even at maximum aperture. The surfaces of the two molded glass aspherical lenses, in particular, are processed with nano-order precision to suppress the swirling, ring-shaped blurring that often occurs with aspherical lenses, resulting in clear images across the entire frame.
The optical design and stepping motor that supports video AF enable natural autofocusing.
