The design for Sailor's Farewell shows a woman in a dress waving a red scarf on a rocky shore, as if waving to her sailor lover as he sets off on a voyage. The lover is about to embark on a great adventure, passing by lighthouses and palm-lined islands, occasionally diving into the ocean in a diving suit and encountering marine life such as octopuses and whales. The design, which appears to be embroidered on a pale blue linen canvas, creates a gentle and exciting atmosphere.
