Tsugaru Lacquer: Tsugaru lacquerware, or Tsugaru lacquer, refers to lacquerware made in Tsugaru Town, Aomori Prefecture. Tsugaru lacquerware is known as one of the most skilled lacquering techniques, resulting in a refined and strikingly beautiful, unique finish. Sekai Tsugaru Fountain Pens are made using Tsugaru lacquerware, characterized by a vibrant speckled pattern known as Kara-nuri. Four to six different types of lacquer are applied in various color combinations, creating a textured finish, and the cut surface is then polished to reveal the unique speckled pattern. It takes six to seven months to complete, and the entire process is done by hand.
