"Blue Rose" has been beloved for over 90 years since its design debut in 1928. This new Blue Rose series combines "lapis lazuli" with "lapis lazuli" to commemorate the 90th anniversary of Blue Rose and the 100th anniversary of Okura Pottery's founding.
"Blue Rose" expresses the beauty of graceful vines and vibrant roses with the mysterious colors created by the art of flame. A design synonymous with Okura Pottery, beloved since its debut in 1928. At a time when it was believed impossible to produce blue roses naturally, Okura Pottery's "Blue Rose" embodied this miracle. The delicate, blooming deep blue color, blended into the white porcelain using the "Oka dyeing" technique, is a stunning sight.
"Oka dyeing" is a technique unique to Okura Pottery. This technique involves painting a white porcelain surface with cobalt pigments after firing it once more in a kiln at the world's highest temperature of approximately 1,460°C, allowing the pigment to sink into the glaze, creating a unique, deep, deep blue color. This technique is particularly striking when it comes to the white porcelain of Okura Pottery's world-renowned "white." Because the pigment blends into the glaze, the surface is lustrous and smooth, ensuring long-lasting use. It also complements the "Blue Rose (8011)" series and is available in a wide variety of variations. It also makes a great gift.
