[Nyoirin Kannon] This is one of the bodhisattvas worshipped in Buddhism. It is one of the manifestations of Kannon Bodhisattva and is counted as one of the Six Kannon. It is depicted in a contemplative pose with one knee raised, elbow resting on it and fingertips resting on cheek. The soles of the feet are joined together, and this posture, known as the Wheel King's Seat, is characteristic of Nyoirin Kannon. It is said to depict the Kannon pondering how to save people. Most statues have six hands and six arms, and hold a wish-granting jewel and a wheel (rinpo). It is said to bestow blessings of wisdom, wealth, blessings, safe childbirth, and long life.
