Taking advantage of the advantages of optical design dedicated to mirrorless cameras, the lens uses an abundant amount of extra-low dispersion glass, including six FLD glass elements and two SLD glass elements. It also employs three aspherical lenses to thoroughly suppress aberrations that are difficult to correct in post-processing, such as axial chromatic aberration and sagittal coma aberration, achieving consistent, high optical performance from the center to the periphery of the entire zoom range.
Various functions can be assigned to the AFL button from the camera body, improving operability during shooting.The use of a stepping motor and algorithm achieves both high-speed and quiet AF drive.
Designed for shooting under harsh conditions, the lens features a dust-proof and splash-proof construction, a water-repellent and dirt-resistant coating, and is equipped with a variety of functions, including an AFL button on the lens barrel that can be assigned to various functions, a zoom lock switch that unlocks when zooming, and a tactile AF/MF switch.
