This film is an adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's "The Lord of the Rings." Sauron, the Dark Lord, lost an evil ring that would destroy the world. Frodo, who now possesses the ring, embarks on an adventure to the crater known as the "Crack of Doom" to destroy it.
The film is permeated with the ring's uncontrollable, great power, and vividly portrays the human weakness of being manipulated and captivated by its magical power. The brutality of Sauron's minions pursuing Frodo also adds to the thrilling adventure, ensuring suspense.
The film is directed by Peter Jackson, director of "The Maiden's Prayer." Elijah Wood stars as Frodo, and a cast of talented, dignified actors, including Ian McKellan, Cate Blanchett, and Viggo Mortensen, play supporting roles. This is the first in a grand trilogy. (Kaori Saito)
