This much-anticipated album features Roy Hargrove, a popular contemporary jazz trumpeter who joined the trio on the final day of their Blue Note concert in Tokyo, and suddenly joined the recording. The powerful trio includes 26-year-old bassist David Wong, a beloved protégé of Ron Carter, and drummer Lee Pearson, who has performed with Duke Ellington and other orchestras, as well as promising tenor Raymond McMaurin, who has also performed with Horace Silver. The album also features a piano solo by Hank Jones, making it a truly satisfying and rewarding memorial album.
