In the 1970s, MERRELL founder Randy Merrell began making custom boots in Vernal, Utah. Developed from a childhood love of the outdoors, his boots gained a nationwide reputation, and in 1981, Backpacker Magazine named them "North America's Most Functional and Comfortable Shoe." Two outdoor enthusiasts who came across this article invited Randy Merrell to form a new company, MERRELL, specializing in boots. They improved their production process and developed a series of outdoor shoes, maintaining the appeal of "long-wearing comfort." In 1998, they released the wildly popular "Jungle Moc," a classic model. This marked the beginning of MERRELL's expansion beyond outdoor sports, into the mountains, cities, and all other outdoor activities. In 2001, the "Chameleon" series was released, and five years later, total sales exceeded 10 million pairs worldwide. Since then, a diverse line has been developed that is loved by a wide range of users, from trekking to outdoor festivals, and the shoes are currently sold in 160 countries around the world, with annual sales exceeding 17 million pairs.
The shoes are made entirely from EVA material, which is well suited to aquatic environments, and are highly durable.
