Product Introduction
This model is a plastic model assembly kit based on Platz's 1/72 Japan Air Self-Defense Force F-15J Eagle, which has already garnered high praise from aircraft model enthusiasts. It reproduces the commemorative painted aircraft "42-8947" of the 304th Squadron, which celebrated its 40th anniversary in August 2017.
The markings of the commemorative painted aircraft, which performed a flight demonstration at an air show in December, are reproduced in detail with large decals.
The Tengu mark on the back of the fuselage and the right vertical stabilizer, along with the blue F-15 mark on the left vertical stabilizer, create a striking finish.
The Tengu in the squadron's markings is a familiar symbol to Self-Defense Force fans, said to be based on the Tengu, Hikosan Buzenbo, a Tengu said to reside on Mount Hikosan in Fukuoka Prefecture at the time of the squadron's founding.
The decals fit snugly onto the accurately reproduced aircraft shape.
The actual aircraft's shape is modeled in detail at 1/72 scale.
The engine nozzles, reproduced with meticulous attention to detail and separate parts, are also noteworthy. The kit also includes markings for the three 610-gallon tanks.
This is a kit that we would like to see added to the collections of any Japan Self-Defense Forces fan.
