Introduction
★The fifth installment in the Beatles' unreleased live series! ★Featuring performances from the UK, Sweden, and Canada in 1964! This live series chronicles the Beatles' precious, unreleased live performances. This fifth installment features three rare 1964 shows from the UK, Sweden, and Canada. The Beatles' popularity in the US ignited in 1964 with their appearances on the Ed Sullivan Show and in Washington. They embarked on a major US tour that summer, including stops at the Hollywood Bowl, but they also toured Europe immediately prior to their US tour. For a long time, recordings from that tour were unearthed, with the only recording circulating underground was a poor-quality master from a TV appearance in Blackpool, UK. This CD features the July 19th Blackpool performance, recorded on a new master with crystal-clear sound. This is the oldest surviving live recording of the band, recorded live on the UK ABC TV show "BIG NIGHT OUT," featuring the newly released July 10th single "Hard Day's Night" and its B-side, "Things We Said Today." The July 28th live performance in Stockholm, Sweden, is a rare recording, the master of which was discovered about five years ago. The mix appears to have been recorded directly from Paul's microphone, making John and Ringo's voices quite faint, but the intensity of the band's performance and Paul's passionate singing make this a truly worthwhile recording. The third source is from the August 22nd live performance in Vancouver, their first Canadian performance as part of a massive US tour. A crowd of nearly 20,000 packed the stage, resulting in a legendary, enthusiastic performance that was interrupted twice due to chaos. The inside jacket features a Japanese commentary detailing the situation and anecdotes from the time. Now available on digipak CD from Eternal Grooves!
