[Synopsis]
"The Book of Five Rings" is said to have been written by Miyamoto Musashi in his later years at Reigan-do Cave on Mount Kinpo near Kumamoto City. It describes Musashi's life, his swordsmanship style which he named Niten Ichi-ryu, and how to practice it. However, although it is believed to be an autographed copy, the original was destroyed in a fire, and only numerous copies remain. This "Book of Five Rings" holds a crucial key to reviving a new image of Musashi.
This work is a historical animated documentary based on "The Book of Five Rings," exploring Musashi's life and the mystery of his unique swordsmanship style, "Niten Ichi-ryu." A spiritual cultivator and martial arts seeker who revered gods and Buddhas, yet never entrusted his own fate to them, a cold-blooded strategist who would even kill children without hesitation to achieve victory... Mamoru Oshii now deciphers this contradictory character, Miyamoto Musashi, with his unique theories and interpretations!!
