Nambu ironware, a traditional craft from Iwate Prefecture with a 900-year history, boasts a simple and warm texture that improves with use. The exterior of the iron kettle is finished with a baked-on natural lacquer coating, while the interior is rust-prevented using traditional kiln firing techniques. This technique involves firing the kettle over charcoal at approximately 900°C to form a film of iron(II,III) oxide on the surface, preventing rust. The boiled water is rich in easily absorbed ferrous iron, making it effective for iron supplementation.
