Amida Buddha, also known as the Buddha of Infinite Life due to his infinite lifespan, is the head of the Western Pure Land, where he continues to save people with his boundless life and wisdom. He is the most popular Buddha. "Namu Amida Butsu" means "I take refuge in Amida Buddha." This generous Buddha will take anyone, no matter how bad they have done, to the Pure Land after death if they chant "Namu Amida Butsu." The act of welcoming the deceased is called "raigo," and Amida Buddha, accompanied by Kannon Bodhisattva and Seishi Bodhisattva as attendants, arrives from across the mountains accompanied by lively music. He is a kind-hearted Buddha who warmly embraces and eases even the image of death, which we fear.
